We started this year with a new endeavor—probably one that you wouldn’t expect: we published a book! It shows examples of our repair, restoration and refinishing work. While many of the photos can be seen on our website, this gives Bob something tangible to carry around (besides our Before and After chairs, which are rather cumbersome) to show potential customers what we do. Ask to see it the next time you’re at the store; not only would he love to show it to you, but Bob would be delighted to talk about MyPublisher.com, which we used to create the book. Since he and Cecil are in the process of turning an upright piano into a bar and desk, he’s already planning the second volume to show more of our non-traditional transformations . . .
In honor of Washington’s birthday this month, we’ve added a unique tablecloth (though I wouldn’t use it as one!) to our inventory. Measuring 64” square, the center has shield-breasted eagles and there are portraits of Washington, after a painting by Gilbert Stuart, in the corners with scenes of Native Americans and early settlers in between. It’s possible this is a Centennial piece (1876), as there was resurgence of interest in Washington at about that time. Clearly this was made on a jacquard loom given the mirror images on the piece. Additional information and photos of other Recently Acquired items are on our website at Recent Acquisitions.
If you are looking for interesting things to do in the area, you may want to attend the 2nd annual Loudoun Grown at Fireman’s Field in Purcellville, which will be held on the 18th from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Participating businesses include vineyards, farms and bakeries. There will even be a gardening expert there.
We’ll be open normal hours this month, but will also be open on Monday, the 20th, for the President’s Day holiday.
