| Hand-drawn picture of "Captain Janes's [sic] quarters at Fort Stevens, Ogn." (Oregon) in period frame, measures 7" x 10", FYI, Fort Stevens was active from 1863-1947. It saw its only action on June 21, 1942, when a Japanese sub shelled the fort. It was the first installation since the War of 1812 to come under attack. The Fort's commander did not return fire and there was no damage. Note that Ft. Stevens was named for Terrritorial Governor General Isaac Ingalls Stevens who was killed at Chantilly, VA in 1862.
