This is a high chest of drawers from the William and Mary period in America, from around 1690 to 1730. The style was a tribute to William III and Mary II, who ruled England from 1689 through 1694, when Mary died. William continued to rule until 1702. The style has Dutch, French, Flemish and Chinese elements, six turned legs terminating in bun feet are very typical. In America, each region had very distinctive visual characteristics.
